There has been much speculation about Apple's next-generation PowerBooks, code named 'Pismo'. It seems like Apple are finishing developing the new machines and there have been rumours that many third-party developers who are close to apple have received test machines in early December 1999.
It is likely that they will come in both 400, and 500MHz versions, sporting a 100mhz system bus. They are also likely to have more SDRAM and may include a version of ATI's RAGE 128 graphics chip. One major change from previous PowerBooks is the expected inclusion of FireWire and USB ports.
However one thing that has been left to speculation is the case design, one theory is that it has been given the code name 'Pismo' because of Pismo Beach, which is famous for its abundance of clamshells, many of which are very large in size...... watch this space!
